Biden, 2020 Democratic candidates urge new assault weapons ban in wake of shootings
Former vice president Joe Biden, who had a large role in crafting the 1994 assault weapons ban, declared support for a national gun buyback program to get assault weapons off the street. Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Cory Booker, Sen. Kamala Harris, and former Rep. Beto O'Rourke are among other 2020 Democratic presidential candidates to express support for additional gun violence reform measures.
