Thousands flock to beaches for holiday weekend as COVID rate soars, but death rate remains stable



Thousands of beachgoers began flocking to the shores Friday to kick off the July Fourth weekend despite a nationwide resurgence in coronavirus cases that has prompted holiday beach closures in some of the hardest-hit areas and other restrictions to prevent more infections.
